DIY Sushi

Feeling lazy again, I decided not to cook so we just had homemade sushi for lunch.

My fillings are just egg, japanese cucumber and pork floss as kids don't like crabstick. I can't use raw sashimi as no one likes except me.

The rice didn't bind together very well. I followed the instructions on the rice bag but still.... I wonder why?? Not enough water??

I heated the nori before adding the rice but it's still difficult to slice. I couldn't be bothered to wet the knife after each slice, thus that explains the mess over all the nori :P

oh... I think it's because you didn't press hard enough. Next time, try pressing a bit more and you will see them sticking together more.

BTW, you have lots of interesting AMC recipes there, i was introduced by my mum-in-law about this but never get the chance to appreciate it more though, will try some of your methods here if got chance. :)

Your rice is too dry. Try cooking 3 cups of rice with 3.5 cups of water. Use the same cup you measure rice for the water also. After rice is cooked, leave rice in cooker for 15 mins before scooping it out into a big mixing bowl. Add in the vinegar mixture (3 tbsp Jap vinegar, 2 tsp salt and 2 tbsp sugar. Dissolve sugar and salt in vinegar over slow fire and leave it to cool down before using.
